Medical Assistance
ACTS provides immunizations, medicine for deadly diseases, training in hygiene and ways to keep a healthy family environment. During lean times of famine, food is distributed to widows and orphans.

The Ellel Medical Center which includes a maternity wing, wards for the sick, a dispensary, laboratory, consultation rooms and a dental clinic. The building was completed in spring of 2009.
Additional equipment and supplies are needed to fully equip the hospital.
There are no medical clinics or hospitals in Saonré, so Ellel Medical Center provides a much needed service to the community. Because a church has been established at the Center, a pastor is on duty to provide spiritual counseling and prayer for patients and families.
It is estimated that 15,000 people from the village of Saonré and neighboring villages will benefit from the health care provided.

Widows who qualify have been issued medical cards for Ellel and are able to receive treatment at reduced cost.
Orphans receive treatment at no cost. The cost for treatment and medicines for orphans is subsidized by gifts to ACTS Ministry.
ACTS reaches individuals who are the poorest of Burkinabe society. They are broken by ignorance, poverty and hopelessness.
They have no means or tools to break the cycle of poverty.
ACTS ministers the love of Christ to them in practical ways to bring them to salvation.

Before Ellel was opened deaths occurred among the women and children of Saonré. These deaths could have been prevented if even basic medical care was within reach.
Wood for cooking fires is scarce in the Sahel region of Africa where Burkina Faso is located. One woman was trying to cut a limb from a tree to use for firewood and while doing this she fell to the ground severely injured. With no medical treatment she died a day later.
A second woman was having difficulty in childbirth. She was finally taken by donkey cart to Ouagadougou miles away. When arriving at the hospital there, the woman was denied admission so her neighbor was forced to take her back to the village. On the return trip both she and her baby died.
If there was a dispensary and clinic in the village, these tragedies would not have happened. The women may have had a chance to live with treatment.

Innoculations are given to ACTS orphans and students for polio, meningitis and other diseases when vaccines and funds are available.

Malaria is a deadly disease for malnourished children and adults. Medicines are unobtainable for the widows and orphans living in villages. ACTS provides them with
medicine to ease the suffering from malaria and a feeding program provides one meal a day for widows and orphans.
With funding for the medical center, ACTS could have a clinic building, chapel and doctors ready within three months. The archetectual plans have been ready and approved by the government for a year year. We are waiting for funds to build and equip the center.

The building construction has been completed for the Ellel Medical Center, but medical equipment is needed to provide quality care. Donations for supplies are needed to outfit the Center.
Young girls in our vocational sewing program are busy sewing medical uniforms for the staff of the Ellel Medical Center. The young men are constructing beds, desks, chairs and tables for the rooms at the Medical Center.
