Vocational training
 Due to the growing number of orphans caused by the AIDS pandemic, there is a need to educate the orphans in addition to other poor children deemed at risk.
To give hope and future to AIDS orphans and other children at risk, ACTS provides training for life skill development.
Besides giving employment opportunities to individuals, this training boosts the overall development of the country as more citizens become skilled workers.

The newest area of training is in culinary arts. Students in this class are learning how to prepare, cook and serve foods for restaurants, hotels and their own businesses. The students are really excited about developing skills in this area.

ACTS already owns a 6000 sqm land where 80 orphans live and ACTS provides education, vocational training and meals.
 Each child chooses a vocational program such as carpentry, sewing, vegetable growing, culinary arts or livestock farming. Each day professional trainers in the various fields train the orphans according to a set schedule.
As the students become proficient in their chosen vocation and they wish to start their own business, they receive a financial micro credit. This helps them on their way to be self-supporting.
Each person trained will be in charge of training other young people; this way, each improves their learning skills and shares what they have learned with others. We build the community by cooperative interdependency.
With the help of the Mayor of Komsilga 10 young men were identified and equipped to make gardening their project in the area of the Dam Kalzi where there is water part of the year for growing vegetables.
During 2009 11 orphans received training in carpentry. Four were given internships with carpenters in Ouagadougou so that they would have practical on the job training.
When students have finished their training and internships, they will be elgible to receive micro-credit to begin their own business. Most of the students in the vocational program have decided not to further their academic education in higher learning institutions and feel the need to learn a trade. This was a decision they made on their own as they grew closer to age 18. The ACTS Center orphanage cares for boys and girls between the ages of 18 months and 18 years of age.
