ACTS Immediate Response Plan
ACTS EMERGENCY RESPONSE – September through December 2009
- Target population for efforts in Saonré:
- The orphans living at the Hope Center
- ACTS widows who lost their homes
- Other people of Saonré who lost their homes and meet certain qualifications.
ACTS widows who lost their homes including the people of Saonré are taking temporary shelter at the ACTS Ellel Medical Center, and in ACTS secondary school.
- Target population in Ouagadougou:
- Affected people who live near the Ouagadougou office of ACTS Ministry. These are people already involved with ACTS projects in Ouagadougou.

ACTIONS
- Obtain and distribute food for the orphans living at the ACTS Hope Center, ACTS widows, the people of Saonré and Ouagadougou. A total of 400 families and 150 orphans.
- Provide clothes, bedding, blankets, medicines, mosquito nets for the orphans living at the Hope Center, the people of Saonré and Ouagadougou.
- Provide school supplies for 150 children, to return to school
- Provide cooking utensils for the people of Saonré and Ouagadougou.
- The school year will be starting soon, there is therefore a need for tents in order to help those who are temporarily staying at the Ellel Medical Center and in the secondary school.
The short term program will cover the months of September 2009 through December 2009.
Expected results in the short term
- 150 children are able to go back to school.
- A total of 400 families which are composed of 350 households who were hit in Saonré and 50 families in Ouagadougou where ACTS’ office is located and 150 children have food.
- 400 households (and 150 children) received clothes to wear and blankets to protect themselves against the cold and damp air caused by the rains.
- 400 people have access to medical treatments.
- 400 households are sleeping under mosquito nets, which protect them against mosquito bites and malaria.
- 400 family units have sleeping beds and tents.
- 400 families have cooking utensils.
