Roger launches his own carpentry shop
A personal testimony from Roger Nikiéma, an orphan at the ACTS Center, shows how vital the education and training at the ACTS Center is for the orphans.
"My name is Roger Nikiéma; I am an orphan living at the ACTS Hope Center.
"ACTS gave me the opportunity to be trained in carpentry. At the end of my training, I was chosen for an intership with a carpenter in the capital city of Ouagadougou.
"At the end of 2009, I was able to launch my own carpentry business. I will be ever grateful to ACTS for giving me this good opportunity. You took me from the streets, gave me life skills, spiritual knowledge and encouragement.
"I have no doubts about my future. I have the skills and knowledge necessary to start a family and have success in life. Thank you so much."
Roger is truly an entrepreneur. We are so proud of him. It is amazing that he was able to launch his carpentry business with no help from outside funding. He saved money from his internship and odd jobs he obtained to start his business.
ACTS believes education for orphans helps fight poverty. ACTS provides schooling for orphans in its care and for village children who pay nominal fees to attend.
Vocational training, like carpentry, is available for those who wish to learn skills for future employment.
