Temple Evangélique El Roï ministers to the orphans and to the village of Saonré

Construction of the permanent church building is underway due to a generous gift from one of ACTS' partner churches, Journey of Faith in California.

Completion of the church was scheduled for October 2009, but construction has been delayed slightly. The flooding on September 1st caused a small section of wall to collapse and for a short time cement was not obtainable for repairs or continued construction.

Then, an unusual event occurred. A strong wind hit the construction the day before the roof was to be placed on the completed wall structures. This wind hit nowhere else, just the walls of Temple Evangélique El Roï.

We continue to pray for protection upon all individuals involved in the construction and for the construction to be completed unhindered. We expect the church to be completed around the beginning of the new year.

Below are three photos of the construction progress of Temple Evangélique El Roï. The design of the church is unique for village churches. The building incorporates space for various activities as well as a large sanctuary for worship services.

As a result of ACTS continuing evangelism campaign 26 orphans and adults from the villages were baptized one month this spring.

In 2008 a church was established at the ACTS Center in the village of Saonré. Pastor Kaboré is the pastor. He watches over the spiritual needs of the children at the orphanage, holds evangelistic campaigns for the community, provides prayer and counseling for patients at the Ellel Medical Center and pastoral oversight of Temple Evangélique El Roï.

In just one month this spring, 26 children and adults were baptized at Temple Evangélique El Roï. The Lord is faithful and looks after widows and orphans. He promises that those who seek Him will find him.

Each month, an average of 300 widows attend prayer meetings and benefit from donations of food. Their lives were enriched through prayer time and Bible teaching.

Pastor Kaboré is on staff to assist widows and orphans in their spiritual walk of faith.

As ACTS ministers to the physical needs of widows and orphans, they also minister the love of the Savior. There is a door of opportunity open in Burkina Faso for the Gospel to be proclaimed. We don’t know how long the door will be open, so we are working steadily on community outreach.

The church meets in a temporary building with walls and roof made of reed mats. The temporary building is getting small for some services. And during the rainy season, the dirt floor becomes a sea of mud. At times when the floor is too muddy, the church meets in the atrium of the Ellel Medical Center.

We are hopeful that funding for a permanent church building will be found in the near future.

If you or your church would like to designate a gift towards the church building fund we would make sure it is applied to the Temple Evangélique El Roï building fund.
