Rebuilding of widows homes - Update
 |
ACTS Ministry re-built 22 widow's homes that had been destroyed by flooding after the drought of 2007 |
Widows homes are being rebuilt after heavy rains during last year's rainy season.
ACTS has begun rebuilding more than 22 homes in several villages.
Last fall the rainy season caused flooding as the ground could not soak up the extra water. As the water swirled around the adobe brick walls, the homes began to collapse. More than twenty-two widows primarily in Saonré and Wisga have lost their homes.
We thank the Lord for his protection. No one has been killed in Saonré from falling walls. Elsewhere families died as walls fell on them.
Each home cost $328 for material to reconstruct a home that will withstand future rains and wind. Reinforced walls were built with adobe mixed with concrete. A concrete floor was poured, a corrugated metal roof added and metal doors and windows were fitted. These new homes give women and children a secure place to sleep.
A man whose wife died leaving him with four children was hired to rebuild the homes located in Saonré. The major of the district secured other men to rebuild homes further out from the village.
There are 180 widows enrolled in the ACTS Ministry literacy and micro-enterprise program in the villages of Saonré and Wisga. Each needs your prayers.
In Burkina Faso even the smallest loss can make the difference between life and death for the poor.
