Poverty can be like a rock

Hungry children were fed after ACTS first worship service in the village

Early in 2005, Executive Director Joanna Ilboudo gave her first message to the widows and children in the poverty-stricken village of Saonré. It was a time of famine.

“Poverty can be a rock. Sickness can be a rock. Famine can be a rock.

But in whatever situation you find yourself God can make water spring out of the rock.”

This was the first time that needy village women and children came together to listen the Word of God preached at the ACTS Center

The message Joanna preached is found in Exodus 17:5-7. Widows received encouragement and began to believe that the Lord can bring life-giving water into the hard times of life.

Worship and prayer was followed by a surprise meal of rice. The fellowship time was a time of joy and thanksgiving for all.

ACTS ministry seeks to bring love and hope to mothers and children and works to empower village widows and orphans in order to smooth their sorrows. Humans may not always succeed in life, but our God has never failed in what he does. The prayer time with the village children was especially sweet. What a privilege it is to pray for these dear ones.

Our prayer is that one day the ACTS ministry will be able to feed many more children not only for one day but every day and also provide for them to go to school or be trained to give them a way out of a life of poverty and want.
